konbanwa, everyone!!!
curhat niiiihhhh, about my research proposal...T_T
in my college, one of the final task in chemical engineering is a research!!! FYI, there are two final task, first is research, then a plant design.
we, as a student, have to make a research proposal in sixth semester and normally we do the research in the seventh semester. That's normally guys, it mean, there is some exception!!! and to make a research, we have to find a partner, its up to you whether it man or woman. and we will get a lecturer to guide us to find a topic.
Q : how to get the lecturer??
A : there was a special lecturer who accountable for listing the vailable lecturer and he chose them randomly, and we couldn't choose the lecturer for justice. that was a good reason, but sometimes, it could be a bad idea.
Q : why?
A : in my case, I with my partner, named farisa got a young and fresh lecturer who just finished her doctoral program in UK. Both of us really like her so much because she treats us well and gives many advices for us. in our first meeting, she asked us about our subject, (there are two subject, food and energy) and both of us took the energy subject. my lecturer was very shocked and asked us why we chose her as our adviser because her subject was food. we were worried if she asked us to find other lecturer. but fortunatelly, she wanted to be our adviser and asked us to find a relationship between food and energy. we got very excited and looked for it right away after she asked us. but one week after that, we couldn't find it!! we met the lecturer desperately and consulted our problem. then, she decided to run our research in food speciality altough our subject was energy.T_T
she gave us many advices. and we were interested in modified non-wheat flour (cassava, maize, etc) to make noodles. it looks simple right?? just to substitute wheat flour with non-wheat flour. but actually, it's not as easy as you think!! trust me!!! why? because to make the non-wheat noodles has the same characteristic as wheat noodles, it have to be modified by enzymes, fermentation and bacteria.
three weeks passed fast and we got stuck at a point where we couldn't find the best method to do it. we consulted to our adviser diligently, once in two days, but she asked us to find other method which was appropriate to our research.
confused??? yes...
desperate??? yes...
want to give up??? no!!!
Q : then, if it was so difficult, why didn't you asked for a topic to your adviser. so you could just made the proposal??
A : wooohhhooohoooo... our adviser didn't want to give us a "pure" topic like other's did. she didn't want us give something easily before we tried to find it ourselves. when I saw my friends, most of them got a "pure" topic from their adviser to help their project or to continue their research. in the first meeting, they got a topic and they could develop it right away. moreover, some of my friend run their research now (I mentioned some exception before).huhuhuhuhu...
but then, I remembered what my lecturer told me,
she said " maybe you will take longer time than your friend but if you didn't do it by yourself, you will not understand the process. the most difficult part just to find the topic. once you get it, you'll be able to write it in a night. why? because you've already understood what you've done. you've already understood a whole of your research.you know why you choose 'this' better that 'that'. don't get jealous to your friend who already finished their proposal or maybe run their research."
her words stabbed my heart. I thought about it again, and I realized that what she said was true. if she let us with her idea, we didn't know the real process of a research and we didn't know whole of our research.
thank you mrs. you made us realize the meaning of a research!!!
we will try our best!!!
please don't get tired with us!!!
we really like you!!!
we want to learn alot of things from you!!!
-fin-
arigatou...^_^
